SHARON VAN ETTEN
It’s always a pleasure to host someone who’s work you admire and that was certainly the case when Sharon Van Etten and her band came in for a week long retreat at Gatos Trail this spring. Sharon was here preparing for some upcoming live shows including The Wild Hearts Tour with Angel Olsen and Julien Baker. We converted the studio into a rehearsal space so Sharon, her band and FOH engineer could rehearse and reconnect for the upcoming performances. The band sounded great and it was a lot of fun hearing them perform the new songs and the “hits”, I even got a personal serenade of one of my favs - Seventeen.
Sharon and I met years ago and we spoke about music and having a studio in the desert so I was happy to have things come full circle with her stay at Gatos Trail. In between work we got to share meals, stories and wine. Sharon and her band were super sweet so it was truly a pleasure hosting them and I look forward to the next one!
